. . . Before The Dawn

A pre-dawn trainer ride usually has a very high suck factor, especially if you're depressed.

Unless there is an HBO documentary on the tube about this event:

The fictional Herb Brooks is nowhere near the real deal, may he rest in peace, but these are Coach Brooks' words:

If the miracle on ice doesn't get you going, you better check your pulse.

Do you believe in miracles? This is your time. Go out there and take it.

Required watching at my house, with all the hockey rink rats that live there. I daresay the movie was a motivating factor in getting Elder Child to finally trade the speedskates for hockey skates. My favorite scene is when they are doing Herbies and finally gel as a team. Very inspirational story, that one!

I love that movie. The documentary is even better because you get to see the real people now and when they were young. Hope you are feeling better.

My favorite Brooksism:

"You're getting worse and worse every day and right now you're playing like it's the middle of next month!"

Amazing documentary...I actually watched it again just a few weeks ago... total inspiration.
