DNS

I don't know which is killing me more, the pain, the money sunk into a race I cannot do, or the inability to toe the line with Benny and Nytro. Whatever it is, the plain fact of the matter is that I cannot go on Sunday.
I'm here in Tempe with all my stuff. Mrs. Greyhound is arriving later today. She has never seen me race. That isn't going to change this weekend.
I've been medicated to the max, including cortisone and lidocane injections. I road last Saturday and have done nothing strenuous since then. Nevertheless, the pain is now so intense that I cannot lift my head on the bike to see down the road. Doing so causes cramping pain and spasms in my neck, lat, shoulder and tricep. I cannot even ride a 1/4 mile safely, let alone 56. Beyond being physically impossible, it is just not safe.
Benny is calling on Commodore and his knowledge of all things triathlon in Tempe. Perhpas I can get a chriropractic intervention or some cortisone into the offending muscles. But, barring some miracle, I will be watching instead of racing tomorrow.
I hate this.

Greyhound, when your body rebels, it rebels. I hope you're back on track soon, and that Comms can fix you up with someone to get you some relief.

And once you're well you can set up a rematch!

That totally sucks. I was looking forward to the battle of the sexes tomorrow.

I hope you feel better soon.

What.a.bummer.

I've had my neck seize up so that I couldn't turn my head. I have no idea why it did that 2 times, it just did. There's no fighting it and it's pretty unlikely you can fix it fast.

So sorry this happened to you.

No worries for the competition. There will certainly be many more opportunities.

TriGreyhound,

Don't worry. There will always be another race. I hope you feel better.

Well, that sucks. But Cliff is right. There will be other races. Staying safe and healthy is the most important part.

Further proof that you should not mess with Nytro. Sorry you had to miss your race.

Sorry you had to miss the race...what in hell happened to you?
I think you are quite the "man" for going to and watching a race you oculd not participate in...that takes a lot of guts.
Best of luck to you with healing and future training!

That totally blows! Now I'm wracked with guilt for sharing my bad backneckshould mojo with you. Maybe you shouldn't ride with me anymore. :'(

Hope you're feeling better! There's always next season, though that's probably no consolation at this point.
