FYI

So, you see, I made it through all my Ironman training and the race itself without missing even a day due to injury. Now, I've tweaked my hammy running a 5k and some 400 repeats.

Seriously. 5 whole K's did me in.

Now, just a little PSA, FYI. If you apply Icy Hot on your high hamstring, . . . say . . . WAY up high at the junction of legs, hindquarters and naughty bits, your medicinal salve of choice may migrate to said adjacent areas creating more heat than you anticipated or even wanted.

I'm just sayin'

Consider yourself warned.

Yeah, so my original comment was going to be something along the lines of "Grey, it's such a short time after IMWI, you might have gone out too quick. Give yourself time to recover." You know, a suitably sympathetic stance.

Then I read yesterday's post. My new comment is, "Grey, it's such a short time after following Nytro's example. Give yourself time to recover."

reminds me of when my friend mistakenly applied the body glide with the red cap (same heating chracteristics) to his inner thighs.

he's forever known now as "hot 'n spicy balls"

speedy recovery with the hammy

I learned that lesson very early with Icy Hot. During track practice, applied it to my quads and calves. Cranked out a few repeats, then went for a quick nature call.

Forgot to wash my hands beforehand.

The next few repeats were very fast!

Hammies bugging you too? Mine are unbelievably tight. Just when I think the multiple stretching sessions daily have it under control, they crank right back up. What a hassle.

Good luck with yours.

Blech! I had a hamstring problem *up in there* a couple of years ago that just wouldn't go away. I never tried icy-hot, but I would try to give myself massages and it always looked like I was scratching my butt with too much enthusiasm.

Hope the hurt goes away quick, and next time maybe you shouldn't run so fast!

I've done the red cap body glide thing on my bike short pad...it was ugly.

Your plight is the reason I avoid any type of running speed work - if I were built for speed, I'd be...well...not the Bigun.

hot and spicy balls - isn't that a Thai Dish?

A little hot-n-spicy mustard for your hammy?

(Shaking head in shame... "Did I just type that lame pun?")

Stay tuned...

TMI! TMI! I don't want to think about your naughty bits.

At least you didn't talk about a "coin purse"-like someone else I know! :-0

Heal quickly....
as you get older, speed kills! (or at least maims one for awhile!)
