You know you're not a pro when you have to skip you're workout, even though your packed bike shoes, running shoes, shower shoes and appropriate gear, but your bags do not contain black, wingtip dress shoes that go ever-so-professionally with the suit hanging in your car.
Nothing like doing the morning commute twice and missing the single best morning of weather since last April.
Plan B: 10k at lunch and swim after the day job.

One morning, I had a swim/run train planned. I got to the gym and had to wonder where my underwear had gone. I was left with the choice of swim, and wear shorts under my pants, or run, and wear my tri shorts.
Until genius me figured out that in a race (this was before my first tri), I would wear the tri shorts all day. Running shorts feel weird under dress pants.
I'm truly blessed to have a Target two blocks from my gym. I've been there about 5 times in the last two years to get socks and running shorts. And then there was the morning that I forgot to pack a regular bra for work, remembered it on the bike commute in, figured I would stop at Target and then had to turn around anyway when I remembered that I had forgotten to pack my wallet.
I have also worn a sports bra under my regular clothes at work. We live in a rough world ;)
Same thing happened to me on Monday, only it was a swim cap. I let a swim cap convince me to skip my workout... some days this gal is weak.
I like the Plan B though. There's nothing like a good lunch workout (especially in THIS weather)to perk up your day. :)
sucks, huh? been there done that tons of times...
I had the opposite problem lately. Got out of the pool, showered, put on run clothes and realized I either had to run in flip flops or go home, put on shoes and run a different route. Not really the same thing at all - is it? Working from home is the triathletes bestest friend.
I think both bike and run shoes, preferably one of each, look fantabulous with a suit.
Just my opinion.
I did the exact same thing yesterday. I debated doing the double commute, but for me that would be a few hours. SOOO... I wore my running shoes with my suit. Let me tell you, its pretty embarassing to be called into the managing partner's office wearing Asics. Fortunately he is a runner, and I think he understood.
Been there, done that! I think it's just a fact of life. :)
Point of order: if I were a tri-chica and had to remember jog bra v. regular bra plus makeup and match underwear and right shoes for slacks or skirt, yaddah yaddah, it would never EVER happen right.
Yeah, being a chick is logistically challenging some days. But we manage. I keep shoes in the office and I keep a pair of running shoes in the gym. I have friends who keep xtra undies and a bra at the office as well for those just in case days.
Oh God, the shoe thing. Now, I am a fully accountable shoe whore, so why on earth do I have so many issues with remembering all the right shoes for all the right occasions? It's enough to make a girl go insane, I tell you!
It also explains why my fashion sense is considerably less than it used to be in my pre-training days. I dress like a geek 99% of the time now.
And yeah - you don't know flexible until you've had to deal with life from the boosum'd perspective - underclothes issues like you wouldn't believe.
It's ridiculous how many bags we have to carry during the day, isn't it. I carry a computer bag, a gym bag, a lunch bag, and a book bag. What's all that about? Holy crap! Anyway, I feel your pain. Try getting a locker at the gym, it really helps. Take care
Benny
Funny you say that, I went out last Sunday for a Bike ride, drove to my point and realized I didnt have my cyclying shoes! Yikes! Had to drive back home and start over, caught some rain on the way back from the ride because of the delay.
And your right, it was a Great Day here in H-town!!
